Taken during Chinese New Year at one of the oldest temples in Malaysia, this shot invites the viewer to see beyond the lotus flower offerings, to the group of people huddled around the gold gilt altar, praying and offering incense.

I always shy away from taking photos of people I don’t know—this is such a nice solution. Beautiful colors!
I feel the same way at times – I think it feels intrusive almost. But photography is also about gaining the courage to ask someone if they will let you take a shot of them… something I need to practice more I think! Thanks for your comment!
