Sawadee ka from hot, humid Bangkok!

The city is as chaotic as I imagined it to be, our hotel a luxurious oasis away from the nightmare traffic jams that choke the streets. There are motorbikes, and street stalls and canals and temples and monks, yes and more. The shopping malls are decked out in Christmas lights, but it feels like that’s in token of the more commercialised side of the holiday season – Buddhist Thais don’t really celebrate Christmas. There is a lovely, slight breeze that comes in over the Chao Praya in the evening as the sun sets, and then the city lights up, like a Christmas ball.

So far, so good.
