The great affair is to move

“I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.”

Robert Louis Stevenson

Iguazu Falls

Captured in movement – on the Tren de la Selva, Iguazu Falls National Park, Argentina

I’m not sure if I’m a writer who likes travelling or a traveller who likes to write, but for me, words are a way of capturing moments on the road, and when re-reading them, a channel to re-live past travel or anticipate future journeys.

The inspiration to write about travelling  comes from the imperative of trying to encapsulate the exhilaration and intensity, the freedom and excitement, of travel, and preserve it for posterity. My inspiration comes from being in movement.

  2. Isn’t it amazing how the air tastes different from country to country?
Your words feed my need for movement as I’m currently living vicariously through them. Thank you

    • Absolutely agree! And how the sky looks different… I think movement brings change, and change brings growth. Or at least that’s how I justify spending so much time and money travelling! :) Thanks for commenting!
